Book Review: The Invention of Hugo Cabret (by Brian Selznick)

The Story

This book is about a boy named Hugo who's an orphan and a thief that lives in Paris. One day, he steals something from the toy booth and an old man catches Hugo. The old man takes a notebook from Hugo that was very important. Hugo is a mechanic and he's building an automaton that can write and he needs that notebook to do it. Hugo follows the old man home one day and meets the old man's goddaughter, Isabelle. They find out mysteries, meet people, and find out who the old man really is.

Why I liked the Book

I liked the book because it had an interesting plot, amazing characters, and a good sense of adventure.

Final Rating

I give this book 5 stars.

What's the Difference Between Biographies & AUTObiographies?

Biographies

A biography is a informational story about a person's life told by a different person. They don't know as much about the person's life as the person who's being talked about. Usually the biography isn't as informational as the autobiography.   Ex: Who Was...? series (by multiple different authors)

Autobiographies

An AUTObiography is someone's life story told by that person. Usually, autobiographies are more informative than a biography.   Ex: The Story of My Life (by Helen Keller)

Try to notice differences when you're reading stories about people's lives. Ask yourself, "Is this a biography or an AUTObiography?"
